Dr. Antonio Moretti, already well-known for his famed estate in Tuscany, Tenuta Setta Ponti, purchased a second estate in Sicily in 1999. After making a name for themselves with their highly sought-after Super Tuscans, Crognolo and Oreno, Antonio and his daugher Monika prevailed in the arduous process of negotiating with numerous small landowners in the Noto area of Sicily for purchase of their vineyards. Feudo Maccari is the result.
Saia originates from a 40-year-old plot planted exclusively to Nero d'Avola. Blackish ruby in colous, with potent and expansive black currant and blackberry fruit on the nose. The structured palate has soft, velvety, warm red and black fruits, along with dried fruit and spices. Rich, solid, and very sustained flavours make this the best version of Saia yet.
