In great years such as 2009, the Petit Chateaux, Cru Bourgeois and Satellite Appellations are great value. If you want to see the overall quality of a Bordeaux vintage, one only has to sample wines from these so called lesser regions to get an idea of the quality of the vintage. These can be great early drinkers while the Grand Cru Classe's and Pomerols age in your cellar. Some are short-term cellars (3-5 years), others can be drank nicely with an hour's decant.
