2007 Plaza Marqués Reserva (Valencia, Spain)
Wine - Red $14.49 (750mL)
Plaza Marques (formerly Baronía de Turís) is a cooperative located in the city of Turís. The coop was founded by the Catholic Agricultural Syndicate with the purpose to let the members, owners of vines, produce and trade their wine.
Turís, located in the central area of the Mediterranean coast within the Valencia region, is 30 km inland, and about 320 m above sea level. Its land benefits from rich deep alluvial soils which hold the winter and spring rains very well. This region has produced wines for many centuries.
This beauty made from Tempranillo and Garnacha has some bottle age to it and is ready for current consumption. It is a light bodied red, but what intriguing aromatics of fresh sage, thyme, and rosemary. If you have a dish using fresh herbs like a herbed tomato pasta dish, this would be heavenly. A great bargain!
