2008 Tommasi Amarone della Valpolicella (Veneto, Italy)

This is produced from the three Valpolicella grape varieties, Corvina Veronese, Rondinella, and Molinara, cultivated high on its hillside terraces. The traditional "pergola veronese" method of training the vines is utilized, and only the best and most mature clusters are selected for Amarone. The grapes are placed directly onto small open racks and brought to the open-sided building, where they are dried by the cool breezes of autumn and winter until the following February.

An intense ruby red in colour. Complex, smooth, full-bodied, and characteristically Amarone, with clear notes of dried grapes. Try pairing this with red meat, game, and mature cheeses.

An aromatic Amarone, showing lots of violet and rose petal aromas and flavors, with hints of sandalwood and anise accenting the ripe black cherry, currant and blackberry flavors. Fresh and polished, with lightly chewy tannins that rush through on the finish. Best from 2012 through 2030. 7,500 cases made.
