2010 Wine - Red Glaetzer

2010 Glaetzer Amon-Ra Shiraz (Barossa Valley, Australia)
Wine - Red $76.99 (750mL)

As the King of all Gods, Amon-Ra is considered the most powerful figure in Egyptian mythology. The temple of Amon-Ra is recorded as the birthplace of commercial winemaking, having the first-ever large scale vineyard grown specifically to make wine for the citizens of the temple.

One of the most impressive of all Australian wines Amon-Ra 2010 is a dark purple with youthful hues, the nose is a compelling mix of dark stone fruits, coffee and blackberries. Supremely focussed yet rich and rewarding on the palate, the flavours are intense yet restrained as is the Amon Ra style. Astounding purity of expression and multilayered structure will allow this wine to mature with elegance for decades to come. This is extremely limited.

Harvey Steiman, Wine Spectator

Rating: 94

A dark, brooding and dense wine, delivering dried cherry, carpaccio and spice flavors, which linger on the broad finish. Has layers and layers of depth, all balled up and waiting to open with time. Best from 2014 through 2020. 1,200 cases made.

Lisa Perrotti-Brown, The Wine Advocate

Rating: 95

Produced from 100% Shiraz, the 2010 Amon-Ra displays a deep purple-black color and aromas of cedar, baking spices, lavender, chocolate and vanilla over a core of creme de cassis, black cherry pie and dried plums. Very full bodied and densely packed with layered warm berry, earth and spice flavors, it has a solid backbone of medium to firm fine grained tannins and crisp acid, finishing long with some hints of dried Provence herbs and black pepper coming through. Consider drinking it 2014 to 2024+. (95+ points)
