Item #1 - Love to All My Friends (36" x 48" framed) (Live Auction Item)
There is a real childlike "joie de vivre" about Real Fournier's work. The bright colors, subjects of small town life, tiny scenes of everyday occurence told with joy, warmth and feeling. His works are usually large canvasses, painted with bold strokes of bright color, the paint thick and lustrous. Houses, skating rinks, trees, a little of fantasies... all bend and move and stretch with an energy that almost can't be contained on a mere canvas.

Item #5 - Panamanian Rainforest Baskets (14" x 24")
Lou (Louii) MacTavish is known for her archival oil paintings. The old west is one of her themes; inspired by her roots, including some FirstNation ancestry. The Mexican rodeos and the renowned Calgary Stampede (where her art has been auctioned) have also inspired her. Her florals are vivid and capture her intense love of nature. She attended the Alberta College of Art in Calgary, Alberta. Some of her collectors are: Members of Parliament, British Petroleum, Shell, as well as many private collectors. She has been commissioned by the Ministry of Indian Affairs. She resides near San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.
This oil original is entitled 'Panamanian Rainforest Baskets'. The Wounaan Indian Women from the Darien Province in Panama are master artisans, known for their fine baskets. These baskets are hand stitched using natural fibers found in the rainforest. The Wounaan live in small villages along a river accessible via half-day trip in a dugout canoe. The baskets range in size from 3 inches to more than 30 inches in diameter and are graced with geometric or pictoral patterns. Large baskets may take several years to complete. The Wounaan make dyes from leaves, flowers, fruits and roots and apply them to fibers from the chunga palm. These fibers from the chunga have been bleached and dried with lemon juice and sunlight. They use a needle to sew threadlike strands of the chunga around thicker coils made from another palm, which is a painstaking process. The baskets are shown only at galleries and museums.
