Our special this week is the 2021 Vinos Santa Ema Select Terroir Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva (Maipo Valley, Chile) – $14.99, regularly $18.99.
The Viña Santa Ema vineyards is well situated for winemaking. Located 10 kilometers from the Pacific Ocean, its coastal cool-climite vineyards have maximum temperatures of 24-25 degrees in summer, but with lots of wind and sun that results in wines with great aromatic expression, with high acidity and a great presence of ripe fresh fruit without greenish touches. Their philosphy of joining tradition and modernity is admirable and resulting in more and more international recognition as a final value winery.
The ripening of the berries here is slow, resulting in vibrant, mineral white wines alongside complex, aromatic reds like our weekly special this week – their certified sustainable Select Terroir Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva – an intense ruby red color with delicate aromas of black and red fruit like plum, blackberry, and raspberry with a hint of toast. The wine is very well balanced on the palate, with a long finish. It’s ideal for red meats, well spiced dishes, stews, and cheeses.
