deVine’s Online Weekly Special program works like this – we will reveal the wine selection on Fridays early afternoon. The feature will only be available for online ordering until the following Monday at noon. The wines purchased during this period will be available for pickup or delivery on the following Wednesday afternoon.

To cap off this year’s weekly specials, we are offering three wines suitable for the Christmas dinner at 20% off.

The lovely aged Querbach Riesling – $24.01 hails from 2001, one of the greatest German Riesling vintages of all time. As with the majority of aged Rieslings, this smells like you drove up to the Esso station upon opening, but the petrol notes blows off in short time and reveal the lovely citrus and stone fruits. Plus, this has fine acidity to work at the dinner table, and is a dry version. A must try!

For those serving red meat instead of poultry for Xmas dinner, the amazing bargain that is the Uko Estate Malbec – $12.01 is very fine indeed. Medium-full bodied, with the requisite dark color and raspberry and blackberry nose, lots of forward fruit and a fairly substantial finish for this pleasing everyday drinker. Pretty hard to find this quality for this price these days!

Finally, for a light to medium-bodied alternative to Pinot Noir and Beaujolais with that baked ham, the Sommerach Domina – $20.01 fits the bill nicely. Domina is a varietal that features wild berries, strawberries, spice and sour cherries finishing with a touch of vanilla while the winery Sommerach is the oldest cooperative in Francken formed by 35 families dating back to 1901.
