Our special this week is the 2021 Franz Haas Kris Pinot Grigio Delle Venezie (Veneto, Italy) – $15.99 (regularly $21.49)
This estate has been producing wines since 1880, the year in which the present day winery was established. This family-run estate was handed down through the generations to the first-born son Franz Haas. The vineyards are all located in the municipalities of Mantagna and Egna, on the slopes of the Cislon Mountain. The years 1982-1986 saw radical changes in the vineyards, as new high-density vineyards were created, with 6000-12500 low-yielding vines per hectare.
Made from 100% Pinot Grigio from vineyards in Montagna and the Mulinat Estate vineyards. The grapes were harvested in late September and were vinified in temperature controlled, stainless steel tanks. The wine is pale yellow in colour with greenish reflections. The nose recalls acacia flowers, tangerine and the delicate scent of almonds. Kris Pinot Grigio is clean and refreshing on the palate with hints of linden and honey. Recommended with risotto dishes and grilled white meats.
