Two wines as this week’s Online feature suitable for Easter Dinner – the white Château de la Greffiere Macon La Roche Vineuse Vieilles Vignes – $24.99 (regularly $31.99). The red feature is the Domaine Steeve Charvet Morgon Cote de Py – $22.99 (regularly $29.99).

The Château de la Greffiere Macon La Roche Vineuse Vieilles Vignes hails from the Macon, the source for relatively inexpensive white Burgundy – 100% Chardonnay is an impressively complex and balanced wine, with aromas and flavors of pink grapefruit, yellow skinned apple, and peach balanced with lighter brioche and floral notes, followed by a delightfully zesty finish. A real over-achiever that in more prestigious regions would be more than double this price.

The Steeve Charvet Morgon Cote de Py is Gamay from one of the famous Cru villages of Beaujolais where the shales and ancient pink volcanic rocks imparts its terroir into this light red. Six generations of family winemakers have left their mark here. Made from vines from 20-40 years of age on steep hillsides, this offers black currant and figs in a rich and velvety package with low tannins suitable for Turkey and all its side fixings.

Happy Easter everyone!
