Our online feature this week is the 2021 Les Quatre Tours Classique Rosé (Provence, France) – $19.49 (regularly $23.99).

Les Quatre Tours came into existence in 1924 at a time when many cooperatives were born just after the 1st World War. Located in the town of Venelles in Southern France, it operated as a very typical village co-op until the end of the 20th century, where the locals went with their jerry cans in order to “refuel” from the large tanks and then bottle the wines at home. Most of the wine was sold in bulk to bigger negociants; nothing was put in bottle at the co-op. In the 1990s, facing a very different and declining market for cheap, bulk wines, they decided to completely change the direction of the co-op. The idea was to model themselves after a small, quality “winery.” with quality over quantity – that’s the philosophy that’s carried forward to even now.

Our weekly special this week is their Classique Rosé – light, shimmering orange, salmon pink in color. The nose offers lively red strawberry, tangerine, watermelon and floral qualities on the fragrant nose. Silky and open-knit on the easy to enjoy palate, showing good depth to its juicy strawberry, red cherry, pineapple and orange pith flavors. The touch of spiciness on the lingering, dry, detailed finish ending long with a subtle hint of fennel and minerality typical of the region. Nice acidity encourages another sip.

40% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 15% Cinsault, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Rolle. Classified Vegan friendly.
