Our online feature this week is the Lua Cheia-Saven Maria Bonita Loureiro (Vinho Verde, Portugal) – $13.99 (regularly $18.99).

Lua-Cheia Saven Winery was formed in 2009 by entrepreneur Manuel Dias and winemaker Francisco Baptista. Nowadays, they have properties in Bairrada, Dao, the Douro, Setubal, Palmela, Porto, Tejo and of course Vinho Verde.

Our feature this week is their Maria Bonita Loureiro Vinho Verde white, made from 100% Loureiro grapes harvest manually grown on granite terroir with sandy clay and schist soils that offer its strong minerality.

Pale straw yellow in color with green reflections. This is a dry style of Vinho Verde, attractively perfumed with green apples, a herbal edge. The wine has a touch of spice that highlights the lemony citrus flavors. The wine is crisp and acidic and intense with a long lingering slightly spritzy finish. Drinks very well as an aperitif or eating with shrimp, fish and soft cheeses. Excellent value for money to discover. an aperitif without even eating. It is rather dry and has citrus notes.
