Our online feature this week is the Gian Carlo Burlotto Cascina Massara Langhe Nebbiolo DOC (Piedmont, Italy) – $22.99, regularly $28.99.

The history of Cascina Massara dates back to the first years of 1900 when Andrea Burlotto was one of the first farmers to believe in Langhe with its Nebbiolo and Barolo, and even more in the potential of Verduno, a small town located between Alba and La Morra with the typical Sant’Agata Fossil Marls soil that provide extraordinary wines. Today it’s Andrea’s son Gian Carlo together with grandson Gianluca to lead the winery. With their serious and constant work they were able to make Cascina Massara a landmark for all of the Langhe.

Our weekly offer this week is their Cascina Massara Langhe Nebbiolo DOC, a wine that comes from a single vineyard located in Neirane, in the municipality of Verduno. The clayey soils and 12 months of aging in wood contribute to its structure and character. In the glass, it displays a garnet red color with orange highlights. On the nose, it offers a delicate and subtle profile, while on the palate it is dry, well-structured, and pleasantly velvety. Calls for charcuterie or braised meats or mature cheeses.
