The great 2015 Brunello di Montalcino’s have started to arrive and being snapped up just as quickly. A vintage made by God, some winemakers say. It is a vintage of power, precision and purity and certainly the best since 2010, and ranks with other great vintages 2004, 2006 and 2007.
Because of the very strict rules in the Brunello appellation which doesn’t allow for blending with other varietals, everything hinges on the quality of the Sangiovese grape itself. Very fresh and dense, you can drink these with some decanting now, or cellar for 4-5 years for additional complexity. Gone are the days when you have to wait 20 years to drink Brunello’s. A standout vintage not to be missed. Get them while the limited supply lasts.
